The San Francisco Symphony is a world-class organization and an important cultural institution that has traditionally stood for classical music. Led by Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT), the San Francisco Symphony is known for innovative, entertaining, and challenging programming, and represents many different things to different people.

When the San Francisco Symphony decided that their existing online presence was outdated and did not adequately capture the stature of the organization, they approached 415 for a complete redesign. Objectives for the new site included educating the public about the San Francisco Symphony, and symphonic music in general; conveying the excitement and sophistication of the San Francisco Symphony experience; increasing subscriptions, ticket sales, donations, and attendance; making it easier to volunteer; enhancing the San Francisco Symphony's world-class image and establishing it as an online leader in the industry.
